Personal Safety and Security

NASO works diligently to provide a safe and secure environment at its meetings and events by working with venue staff to make sure meeting participants are safe. We ask that all attendees report any questionable or concerning activity to NASO staff so that they can take appropriate action. No concern is too small, if you see something, say something.

• Always be aware of your surroundings.
• Use the buddy system when walking to and from the event venue, networking event locations during early or late hours.
• Don’t wear your meeting badge on the street. Remove it as soon as you leave the building/venue.
• Don’t carry a lot of cash or credit cards. Leave valuables in your hotel room safe.
• Don’t leave personal property unattended anywhere, anytime.

If it is a non-life-threatening emergency or if you need immediate assistance, you should ask any NASO staff member or the on-site security personnel to help you. For life threatening emergencies, call 911 or the local emergency number.

Unacceptable Behavior

NASO reserves the right to take any action deemed necessary and appropriate, including immediate removal from the event without warning or refund, in response to any incident of unacceptable behavior, and NASO reserves the right to prohibit attendance at any future meeting or event. Examples of unacceptable behavior include, but are not limited to:

• Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination in any form.
• Physical or verbal abuse of any attendee, speaker, volunteer, exhibitor, NASO staff member, service provider, or other meeting guest.
• Verbal comments related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, national origin, inappropriate use of nudity and/or sexual images in public spaces or in presentations, or threatening or stalking any attendee, speaker, volunteer, exhibitor, NASO staff member, service provider, or other meeting guest.
• Disruption of presentations at sessions, in the exhibit hall, or at other events organized by NASO at the meeting venue, hotels, or other NASO-contracted facilities.

NASO has zero-tolerance for any form of discrimination or harassment by participants or our staff at our meetings. If you experience harassment or hear of any incidents of unacceptable behavior, NASO asks that you immediately inform either Bill Topp, Chief Operating Officer, at 262-989-4855, or Jim Arehart, Chief Marketing Officer, at 262-994-6397 so that appropriate action can be taken.

Refund Policy for Registration Cancellations

No refunds will be made after July 15.  Prior to July 15, a full refund will be made less a $50 Administrative Fee from the total refund amount.  Attendee substitutions may also be made prior to July 15.  All requests for cancellation must be received in writing via letter, fax or email to:

Extenuating circumstances may warrant exceptions to the refund policy. Exceptions to the refund policy for attendees will be considered in the case of a positive COVID case that prevents travel to the event. Requests for exceptions need to be submitted in writing with supporting documentation and will be considered following the event.

Media Content Ownership

NASO will use video, photos, and audio taken during this event to promote the Association and future events. Your registration form provides NASO with the unrestricted right to use media at its discretion for the purpose outlined above.

COVID Policy

Despite our best efforts and safety measures, NASO cannot guarantee a COVID-free environment. By participating in this event, you accept the risks of exposure or infection with the COVID-19 virus. Through the acceptance of these Terms, Conditions & Policies, you agree to release and hold NASO harmless from any responsibility or litigation resulting from any possible exposure to the COVID-19 virus and any and all resulting harm. You understand that NASO cannot be held responsible for any bodily injury, illness, death, or medical treatment that may arise.

Additionally, by accepting these Terms, Conditions & Policies, you declare that while attending the Sports Officiating Summit you are not experiencing or exhibiting any Covid-19 symptoms as outlined by the federal, state and CDC guidelines such as cough, fever, and shortness of breath. You acknowledge you must follow the safety protocols that have been implemented by NASO, the event venue (the Renaissance Atlanta Waverly Hotel), the City of Atlanta, and the state of Georgia.

By accepting these Terms, Conditions & Policies and attending the Sports Officiating Summit, you affirm that you are not aware, nor do you believe that you have recently been exposed to a person with a positive and confirmed case of Covid-19.

NASO is committed to protecting the privacy and personal data of our attendees and those that use NASO products and services. This Privacy Policy explains what type of personal information is collected by NASO (“we” “our” or “us”) and how we use that information. It applies to data shared online, stored in our computer system or in hard copy. Commitment to data security is important to us.

NASO is the data controller and processor of the personal information that you provide to us as an attendee when you access our services or events. The personal information, in any format, that we collect and hold, is handled in accordance with this Policy. Where we ask you to provide information by which you can be identified when visiting our website, or using any NASO services, you can be assured that this Policy applies. We will always explain clearly what data we are collecting about you and for what purpose. We only collect data to provide you with a better experience, to improve and deliver services to you, to meet our legitimate interests as a membership organization, and to comply with our legal responsibilities.

Individuals who sign up for membership, register for an event or create a NASO profile provide us with contact and demographic information via their online profile or through print or online application or registration forms. Your name, address, and email are used for communicating Sports Officiating Summit information and NASO benefits to you (such as to email you a receipt or mail you a membership card or other information). You may opt out of non-transactional emails at any time if you do not wish to receive informational or promotional messages from NASO. Any banking details collected by NASO are solely used for transactional purposes.

All other demographic information that NASO collects via online profiles or surveys is shared at the individual’s discretion. All personal data of NASO members and users is stored on a secure server. We may be required to retain personal data after your membership expires for legal or other legitimate business purposes. This may include retention of personal information that may be necessary to meet our contractual obligations to you, to identify issues, or to resolve legal proceedings. We may also retain aggregate information beyond this time for research purposes and to help us develop and improve our services. You cannot be identified from aggregate information retained or used for these purposes. These practices align with legislation and guidelines on retention of personal data.

NASO advocates for our members and strives to provide benefits and resources to advance the officiating profession. The lawful basis for processing personal data is by consent, legitimate interest, and to meet legal responsibilities.  It helps us to forecast trends in the industry and tailor the development of future benefits to better meet members’ needs.

Email addresses are used for official NASO business and are shared with other attendees on the Summit Networking webpage. NASO event registrants may opt-out of sharing their email addresses at the time of registration or anytime thereafter through written request to the Summit Coordinator, Judy Ball (jball@referee.com).

A cookie is a small data text file that is placed in your browser and allows us to recognize you each time you visit the Sports Officiating Summit website. Cookies themselves do not contain any personal information, and we do not use cookies to collect personal information. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify the settings of most browsers to decline cookies. Declining cookies may prevent you from taking full advantage of the Sports Officiating Summit website.

The Sports Officiating Summit website contains links to other internet sites external to the NASO domain. NASO is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of external websites. NASO does not have any control over other websites. Therefore, we cannot be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information which you provide while visiting external sites and such sites are not governed by this Privacy Policy. Our service providers are required by contract to protect the confidentiality of the personal information we share with them and to use it exclusively to provide specific services on our behalf.

We may disclose the personal information we collect through the NASO website, when we, in good faith, believe disclosure is appropriate to comply with the law (or a court order or subpoena); to prevent or investigate a possible crime, such as fraud or identity theft; to enforce the Association’s Terms and Conditions or other agreements that govern the use of this site; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of the company, its users, or others.

NASO conducts regular reviews of this Privacy Policy to ensure compliance with current regulations and ensure care of personal data. You are encouraged to occasionally revisit this policy to ensure that you are aware of any changes.
