EVENT OVERVIEW
  • When and where is the 2026 Summit being held?
    • The 2026 Sports Officiating Summit will be held July 26–28 in Grand Rapids, Mich., at the DeVos Place Convention Center.
  • Why should I attend the Summit?
    • The annual Sports Officiating Summit is the only gathering of its kind in the world. Nowhere else will you find such a wide variety of sports and competition levels represented.

      The Summit is an intensive two-and-a-half-day event focused on the topics and issues most relevant to officiating professionals and leaders.
  • Who typically attends the Summit?
    • The Summit attracts leaders from across the officiating industry, including state association directors, assigners, supervisors, commissioners and local association board members.

      The majority of attendees are working officials. Many hold leadership positions or are preparing for leadership roles.
  • How is the Summit different than other camps & clinics?
    • Traditional officiating camps focus on rules and mechanics.

      The Summit focuses exclusively on leadership, industry trends and the future of officiating. It also provides networking opportunities with leaders across sports and competition levels.
  • What type of topics are featured at the Summit?
    • Every year, the Summit’s educational program features a particular theme, and many of the educational sessions focus on an aspect of that theme. Discussion typically centers on high-level topics, focusing on challenges and solutions pertaining to sports officiating programs across all levels and sports.
  • Are there social events at the Summit?
    • Yes. The Summit includes several networking and social events, including:

      • Officiating Industry Luncheon
      • Celebrate Officiating Gala (featuring the Gold Whistle Award)

      These events provide opportunities to connect with peers and industry leaders.
  • Where can I find more information on the educational sessions?
    • The full Summit program is typically announced in March. Please check back for updates.
  • Who organizes, hosts and presents the Summit?
    • The Summit is presented annually by the National Association of Sports Officials in cooperation with the National Federation of State High School Associations.

      The Summit is held in a different U.S. location each year and is co-presented by a local organization. In 2026, the Michigan High School Athletic Association will serve as the co-presenting partner.
OFFICIATE MICHIGAN DAY
  • What is Officiate Michigan Day?
    • Officiate Michigan Day is a one-day event held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at the DeVos Place Convention Center, one day before the Summit begins. The event is sponsored by the Michigan High School Athletic Association in partnership with the National Association of Sports Officials (NASO). Additionally, 100 attendees of Officiate Michigan Day will receive scholarships to attend the 2026 Sports Officiating Summit.

  • What is the Summit cancellation policy?
    • Full refunds are available until July 15, 2026, minus a $50 administrative fee.

      After July 15, no refunds will be issued.

      Attendee substitutions may be made prior to July 15. All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing.
